2001/newdress

The book I am reading
says to tell your husband
you want a new dress –
or whatever it is
you want.
I expect a response
that includes
a blank look,
and something like,
“so buy yourself
a new dress,” or
“what do I look like,
a department store?”
It seems more efficent,
less painful,
to just go get
the dress.
The problem is
I don’t want
a new dress.
The problem is always
something like that.
the problem is
I look better in
skirts,
and the things I do
don’t make the money
to buy them.
