This house is quiet,
except for the ocassional loud car passing by,
radio blaring, usually in Spanish.
Or the sound of tires on the wet streets.
Sometimes mothers walking by with strollers,
one or two other children in tow.
Children are rarely quiet.
My favorite noise is
when the Head Starters
from the playground out back
take their morning walk around the block.
They used to ride in bright red carts
with high handles.
Now they walk,
holding on to a red rope
which binds them together
as a single group
